Man killed in Augusta Road traffic accident, Monday afternoon

Russell Steve Kelly, 61, of Gilbert was identified as the victim. Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday to determine the cause of death. The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Wayne M. Grooms, 71, of West Columbia, died after being bitten by a rattlesnake, Sunday afternoon. Grooms was a commissioner with the Lexington Soil and Water Conservation District.
