Bearcats’ playoff run ends with loss

Brookland-Cayce lost to Oceanside, 8-5, Wednesday at Oceanside. The loss in the SC state high school baseball playoffs ends BC’s playoff run. With two wins at Oceanside, the Bearcats would have won the Lower State Championship. BC finished the 2022 season at 21-5; Region Champions; District Champions; Lower State Runner-Up.

Lexington County Fire Service along with the West Columbia Fire Department responded on Tuesday afternoon to a single-family home on fire in the 100 block of Bradley Drive in West Columbia. There was heavy fire and damage to the house next door. No one was injured.

Senior Sara Corley signed a letter of intent to play rugby with Newberry College. She has been a member of the soccer team at Brookland-Cayce. Corley participated in a signing ceremony Monday at the school. Coaches, teammates, fellow students, and family members attended the event, which was held in the arena’s Hall of Fame room.
