One person died Saturday in a moped crash near Lexington, according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway of the SC Highway Patrol.

The moped was heading west on Windsor Park Drive near Old Cherokee Road, about a mile north of Lexington, around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver lost control, veered off the road to the right and hit a tree, according to Ridgeway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
