
Minor, allegedly running from police, charged after crashing into Black Rooster in West Columbia
Friday night, a vehicle hit the Black Rooster restaurant (in the Brookland Complex) at Meeting Street and Alexander Road, in West Columbia.
The crash happened shortly after the restaurant closed, around 11:30 p.m. On its Instagram page Black Rooster reported “everyone involved is okay, but the restaurant was damaged” And Black Rooster “will be closed for a bit while we assess the damage and prepare for repairs. In the meantime, we’ll be working on our spring menu, staff training, and general upgrades so we can come back better than ever. Thank you for your support! It means the world to us!”
According to reports: a driver was being chased by Lexington Police and came through the intersection of Sunset Boulevard (US-378) and Meeting Street (US-1) at a high rate of speed and came over the curb and then hit the building. Two in employees suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The driver was not identified since it was a minor. The driver was charged with reckless driving and disregarding a traffic signal.
