Woman who died in 2-vehicle accident on South Lake Drive in Lexington is identified by coroner
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the person who died in a two-vehicle accident in the 2300 block of S. Lake Drive in the Lexington area of Lexington County at approximately 9:20 A.M. on Saturday.
According to Coroner Fisher, Mrs. Virginia Ellen Burtle, 46, of Pelion was traveling westbound on S. Lake Drive while another vehicle was traveling eastbound on S. Lake Drive and collided head-on.
Mrs. Burtle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead from the injuries sustained in the accident. Two other occupants in Mrs. Burtle’s vehicle were transported to an area hospital with injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with injuries.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT continue to investigate the incident.
