Woman faces attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting into vehicle with a child inside
A Swansea woman faces multiple charges after shooting into a vehicle with a child inside Thursday morning.
Shamara Janaye Greene, 20, is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, stalking, discharging a firearm into a vehicle and two counts of attempted murder, according to arrest warrants.
“Based on information gathered by detectives, when the victim and their child were returning to their home in the 100 block of Culler Road, they saw Greene waiting for them in the driveway,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The victim drove away but Greene followed them and shot at the car. No one was injured.”
Greene left the scene before deputies arrived but was quickly found and arrested at another home in Swansea, said Koon. Greene and the victim know each other.
“The victim recently filed a report for a similar incident with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department,” according to Koon. “Greene had been sending the victim threatening messages as well.”
Greene is currently being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
