Woman dies in Platt Springs Road collision, Lexington County Coroner identifies
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, has identified the individual who died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Platt Springs Road and Cross Road in Lexington shortly before 8:30 a.m., Tuesday.
According to Fisher, Ms. Takkia Sierra Dawkins, 37, of Lexington attempted to turn onto Platt Springs Road from Sandy Springs Lane when she was struck by another vehicle that was driving westbound on Platt Springs Road.
Ms. Dawkins, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained. A juvenile passenger in Ms. Dawkins’s vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
