Woman charged with murder after violent altercation at Kroger on St. Andrews Road in Irmo
From the Irmo Police Department – Irmo Police Chief Bobby Dale announced the arrest of Christina Harrison, 23 of Columbia in connection with a murder on Feb. 14, at 7467 Saint Andrews Road.
Harrison turned herself in to the Irmo Police Department around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday. Irmo Police officers responded to a shooting incident in the Kroger Shopping Center at 4 p.m., Tuesday and located the victim in the parking lot. A short time later, the victim was pronounced dead.
Officers began immediately interviewing witnesses and combing through surveillance footage. From the information gathered at the scene, it appears that the suspect and the victim did not know each other, however, they were involved in a verbal altercation just prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the scene in a white Ford. While Investigators were still on scene, the suspect called dispatch and said that she was at the Police Department to turn herself in. Harrison was taken into custody at the Irmo Police Department and charged with Murder as well as other weapons related offenses.
“I would like to thank the multiple law enforcement agencies that assisted us today; Lexington County Sheriff’s Department , Richland County Sheriff’s Department , State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Solicitor were among the agencies who stepped in and provided whatever assistance we needed,” said Dale.
“Unfortunately, this is a situation where tempers flared, and someone let anger get the best of them. One rash decision has impacted the lives of two families and countless others who witnessed this tragic event.” Chief Dale stated. “Senseless is the only word I can think of to describe what happened today.”
