Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a four-vehicle accident in the 2600 block of Highway 378 in the Gilbert area of Lexington County on Sunday, Sept. 20, at approximately 11:34 a.m.

According to Fisher, Ms. Stacey Brooks, 50, of Columbia, was the passenger in a vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 378 when it crossed left of center, striking three vehicles traveling westbound. Ms. Brooks was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The drivers of the vehicles were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
