Will Lexington 2’s Fine Arts Center, District Offices be built in Springdale?

Property bought in Springdale.

Will the Lexington Two School Board build a fine arts center, auditorium and new district headquarters on Platt Springs Road in Springdale?
That is what some are speculating.

The school district has purchased more than 26 acres for $1.2 million dollars. It’s across from Carolina Buffet.

West Columbia City Councilman Mike Green said he has been told the district has no immediate plans for the property.

Lexington Two voters approved a $225 million bond referendum in 2014. The projects to be financed by the bond referendum include: A fine arts center/auditorium. Cayce Elementary, the Lexington Two Innovation Center and Riverbank Elementary School have been built since the referendum passed. Saluda River Academy for the Arts and Springdale Elementary have been upgraded, too. Those were all bond referendum projects.

Property where the Lexington Two district offices are, on 9th Street in West Columbia, have been optioned to Still Hopes Retirement Community.
