West Columbia’s Meeting Street Music Fest a joyful celebration to beat the band

The clouds parted early and the 2nd Annual Meeting Street Music Fest commenced under beautiful blue skies, Saturday.

Anna Huffman, West Columbia Director of Communications, was all smiles as the crowd grew throughout the day and the Gamecocks whipped Kentucky. Fans watched college football in the TV tents. Kelli Ricard, Director of Events & Publications for the city sent out videos on Facebook as the day faded into a beautiful evening with fans moving to the groove.

The streets were full and they danced into the night as War closed the show on one of the three stages.
The sounds of Gloria Gaynor, Waylon Jennings, Michael Jackson, and Tom Petty were just some of the artists covered by the Music Fest’s line-up of bands.

There was Bluegrass music too, and line dance lessons in front of Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor. Dog West made an appearance, moving to the country sounds of the McKoy Brothers Band. There were lines at the many food trucks and West Columbia’s Meeting Street Artisan Market moved to the middle of the street where shoppers populated the tents.

West Columbia businesses basked in the spotlight. From Savage Craft Ale Works and the old Bait and Tackle Shop bar to the soon-to-open Elevate Social Club, WECO Bottle and Biergarten and Chayz Lounge, it was a street party like no other.
