Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a multi- vehicle accident near the 44-mile marker of I-20 in the Gilbert area of Lexington County at approximately 2:15 p.m., Wednesday.

According to Fisher, Ms. Donna Linette Brooks, 66, of West Columbia was traveling westbound on I-20 when the vehicle she was operating struck the rear of a truck. Ms. Brooks, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead due to the injuries she sustained in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
