West Columbia seeking artists to paint city mural

The City of West Columbia is looking for artists.

In fact, the city has issued a request for proposals from skilled artists to provide mural art in a highly traveled city alleyway.

The artist selected will be commissioned to create an outdoor mural in an alley that connects the city’s new interactive park (now under construction) and the State Street parking lot.

The mural will be painted on two building walls that border the alleyway. The mural area is approximately 12-ft. tall by 60 ft. long on each wall.

The city’s idea is to make the alleyway inviting, engaging, and welcoming.

The completed artwork will become the property of the City of West Columbia.
Muralists will have one month to complete the art work.

A couple of the considerations for the design and theme of the work are: that it is appropriate use for public space; and must not contain people.
