Ted McGee, 84, has passed away. His son, Teddy, said his father died around 4 a.m., Wednesday. Ted McGee was co-owner of McGee Realty at 560 Meeting St. in West Columbia. He had been selling real estate in Lexington County since the 1960s. News of his passing was spreading on social media, around 9 a.m., Wednesday.

McGee was a familiar face at many community functions, including Cayce-West Columbia Chamber Breakfasts. He also worked to help many in need and he mentored others who were embarking on new careers.

Tim James, C-WC Chamber president described McGee’s commitment to the community.

“Ted McGee was a leader for many great causes, specifically understanding and promoting local businesses. He was an advocate for entrepreneurs and believed in supporting the local economy,” James said. “His guidance, friendship, and leadership will be greatly missed by our community.”
