The West Columbia Post 79 American Legion Baseball Team won the SC American Baseball Summer League championship last year.

On Monday, that team was honored with a dinner and an awards ceremony at the American Legion building on B Avenue in West Columbia. Post Director Legree Oswald presented state championship rings to the team.
Head Coach Dargan Lybrand and the team’s coaching staff were also honored.

The SC American Baseball Summer League was initiated in 2020 because of the COVID crisis that affected events last year. In addition to championship rings, scholarships were presented that some players from last year’s team received from the SC American Legion and Post 79, during the ceremony.
