West Columbia Police respond to an alleged domestic assault

At approximately 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, West Columbia Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Boozer Street. Dispatch received a call from an out-of-state female that her friend, who lives on Boozer St., had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend.

She also told police that her friend had a young child that witnessed the assault and that both, the mother and the child, had locked themselves in a bathroom upstairs.

Law enforcement responded to the residence and attempted to contact the occupants of the residence. A male, matching the description of the subject, looked at law enforcement through the window, but no occupants of the house would respond to our attempts to speak with them.

WCPD had officers on the scene that are trained in crisis negotiations. The officers attempted to contact the occupants of the residence and gather information from community partners.

They were finally able to get the female on the phone. At approximately 2 pm the alleged victim exited the house along with all the other occupants and denied that any assault took place. After assuring that all parties at the home were not injured, the scene was released. No charges have been filed in this case at this time. (File photo)
