West Columbia Police make arrests related to car break-ins
West Columbia Police officers made two arrests related to car break-ins. West Columbia Police statistics reported 12 vehicle break-ins in West Columbia in November. In 11 of those force was not used to break in.
A 17-year-old male was arrested early Tuesday morning after West Columbia Police officers responded to reports of auto theft and car break-ins on McSwain Drive (between Westover Acres and I-26) and the surrounding areas. The teen faces charges including breaking into motor vehicles, possession of a stolen vehicle, firearms violations, meth possession, and resisting arrest.
WCPD Officers have also arrested an additional subject for auto tampering. Officers responded to Burlie Drive (in Hook Avenue area) Tuesday night, on the report of an individual pulling on car door handles. Officers responded and took 62-year-old William Hook into custody and charged him with auto tampering.
