The West Columbia Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 900 block of Center Street, West Columbia, SC, shortly after 3:30 AM on September 15, 2024.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the victims. Mr. Kashaan Damon Sims, 17, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Mr. Alvin Davonte McDaniel Jr., 29, of Winnsboro, was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body. A third victim was treated for a gunshot wound at an area hospital and has since been released.

The West Columbia Police Department, in collaboration with the State Law Enforcement Division CSI and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, is actively investigating this incident.
