The West Columbia Police Department announced Monday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault at a local restaurant.

According to the WCPD, the suspect assaulted an individual through the use of pepper spray and left the restaurant without paying for his food.

After a thorough investigation by the WCPD, the suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and battery and defrauding an innkeeper.

The identity of the suspect or the name of the restaurant was not released.
