West Columbia Police arrested a Richland County man and charged him with attempted murder in connection to an incident that occurred Tuesday at 450 Meeting Street in West Columbia.

Antonio Eugene Howell, 37, of 4600 Fort Jackson Blvd., Columbia, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

According to police, Howell got into an argument with another person on Meeting Street. During the argument, police said, Howell shot the victim twice with a handgun, and then left the scene.

He was scheduled for booking at the Lexington County Detention Center.
