West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles takes pie to the face for United Way

West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles raised more than $700 in personal contributions for the United Way Campaign. For his effort he got a pie to the face.

“I love pie, but I love the United Way more,” Miles said after Kelli Ricard, West Columbia special events manager, pressed the pie into the mayor’s face to the delight of onlookers. The ceremony was held behind West Columbia City Hall Friday afternoon.

The United Way of the Midlands helps provide: transitional housing, inclement weather shelters, and meal services for homeless adults and teens. United Way enhances education by providing: tutoring and summer camps for elementary students who are learning reading skills.
United Way also helps provide: free dental and eye care clinics and a lower prescription drug price program.
