A West Columbia man was killed in an accident, involving three vehicles, that happened at about 7 a.m., Monday.

George Monroe Smith, 64, was traveling in the 2200 block of Airport Boulevard near Stratford Road, when his car left the road on the right side and struck two legally parked and unoccupied vehicles. Smith’s vehicle then overturned.   Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said an autopsy performed Smith, later on Monday. The autopsy  showed he died of a medical event unrelated to the accident.

Smith was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and Cayce Police Department continue to investigate.
