Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the identity of the individual who died during a domestic-related incident in the 300 block of Westgate Drive, in West Columbia on Tuesday, at approximately 9:30 a.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. John Thompson Greene, 24, of West Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was performed today at MUSC in Charleston and the cause of death was confirmed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A female who was shot during the incident was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the West Columbia Police Department continue to investigate the incident.
