Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single-vehicle accident in the 2500 block of Charleston Highway in West Columbia on Friday (Dec. 27.)

According to Fisher, Mr. Terry Wainwright Mitchell Jr., 48, of West Columbia was travelling southbound on Charleston Highway when he left the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Mr. Mitchell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the City of Cayce Police Department continue to investigate the incident.
