Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is releasing the identity of the person who was killed due to a motorcycle vs. vehicle accident at the intersection of Charleston Highway and Pine Ridge Drive in West Columbia,.

According to Fisher, Dustin Douglas Chaney, 29, of West Columbia was attempting to turn onto Pine Ridge Drive from Charleston Highway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling the opposite direction. Mr. Chaney, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to an area hospital where he later died on September 25, 2021 from the injuries he sustained in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
