It was announced last week that Sears – the owner of the K-Mart chain – will shut down 108 K-Mart stores and 42 Sears stores, nationwide, by April.

But the K-mart at 1500 Charleston Hwy, West Columbia was not on the list to be closed.

The chain store is known for home goods, apparel, furniture and more.

The three South Carolina K-Mart stores being closed are in Anderson, Greenwood, and North Charleston. The Sears store in Florence is being closed- but there are already plans for another name retailer to come into the same location.
