West Columbia City Council thanks Bogart’s for years of service

West Columbia City Council sounded like it was issuing a goodbye to a longtime friend.

Jason Jones – Bogart’s owner – was thanked for the restaurant’s leadership and commitment to the community at council’s meeting, Tuesday.

Bogart’s, that has operated at 530 12th St. since 2002, has to vacate its building by Oct. 9, to make way for more Zesto parking, after the Bogart’s building is torn down.

From Little League baseball teams to election after-parties, Councilman Trevor Bedell read a resolution commending Bogart’s for its service- and availability for celebrations.

Councilwoman Casey Hallman, a Lexington 2 teacher, voiced her appreciation to Tiffany Jones and the family for the back-to-school events Bogart’s has hosted over the years.
Council also said its desire is for Bogart’s to remain in West Columbia.

Jones said two weeks ago, that since he was told he has to move, he has been looking for another suitable location in West Columbia. Click to read story here But he has not had much luck in finding a new venue with so little time. New regulations, that include a sprinkler system and enhanced grease traps,  have limited the number of available buildings in West Columbia.
Jones mentioned the Three Fountain area, US 1 in Lexington as possible new sites.
