West Columbia City Council recognizes Busbee archer Elizabeth Pittman

Elizabeth Pittman was recognized by the West Columbia City Council Tuesday.

Pittman, an eighth-grade student at Busbee Creative Arts Academy in Cayce, is ranked third in the nation among middle school girls in archery.
She has won medals and many of the competitions throughout the year. Elizabeth is one of the top middle school archers the country and will compete in a national competition on March 22.

A Resolution Recognizing Elizabeth Pittman for Her Accomplishments in Middle School Archery

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Pittman is the 14 year old daughter of Dru and Jackie Pittman. She attended Saluda River Academy of the Arts and is an 8th grade student at Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy in Lexington School District Two; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Pittman found her love for archery at a young age through her elementary Physical Education teacher. She joined the archery team at Busbee in the 6th grade where she competed in her first National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP); and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Pittman has continued growing her passion, skills, and dedication for the sport through the direction of her coach, Robin Gerzema, and through her practices and workout routines with family and teammates; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Pittman has earned several awards over the last few years. She has medaled in 25 of the 30 competitions she has entered as a NASP archer. She is currently ranked 1st in the State for maximum score with a high score of 293 out of 300 in the archery competition for middle school females at the 10/15 meter range. She is currently ranked 1st in the State for average score with an average score of 287 out of 300 in the archery competition for middle school females at the 10/15 meter range; and WHEREAS, Elizabeth Pittman is currently tied for 3rd in the nation for average score and highest score in 10/15 meter for middle school females; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of West Columbia does hereby recognize and congratulate Elizabeth Pittman for her successful season and for her State and National rankings with NASP; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council expresses its best wishes to Elizabeth Pittman for her continued achievement and success in the future.
