West Columbia City Council passes resolution recognizing Mayor Tem Miles for his inclusion on Columbia’s 2023 Most Powerful list

West Columbia City Council unanimously passed a resolution, Monday, recognizing Mayor Tem Miles for receiving the Post and Courier Columbia’s 2023 Most Powerful Award.

The Most Powerful list is an annual ranking that recognizes individuals who bring power and influence to the Columbia area culture, economy, and to the corporate and political arena. City Council’s resolution honors and congratulates Mayor Miles for this award and for his years of dedicated, unwavering, and excellent service to the West Columbia community and its citizens.

Miles was elected in 2013 to serve on the West Columbia City Council to represent District 4. In 2019, he was elected Mayor of West Columbia. Tem represents the City of West Columbia on the Joint Municipal Water Sewer Commission, is a member of the Municipal Mayors Association, and is a member of the Basilica of St. Peter.

During his time serving the City of West Columbia, Tem has been influential in extending sewer service for economic redevelopment in the western 378 corridor, implementing city-wide litter and blight removal programs, adding police, dispatchers, fire, EMT, and public works personnel, and adding much-needed equipment to city departments, live-streaming all council meetings to increase transparency and accessibility, the continued growth of the river district, and the expansion of Carraway Park to include an all-inclusive playground for child of all abilities.
