meeting.

The winning proposals from Redevelopment Management Associates  presented ideas to plan growth for the West Columbia area as well as concentrate on some residential areas to stimulate economic development and investment.

Redevelopment Management Associates  was chosen for the City Wide Redevelopment and the Community Revitalization Plans. Public input, including resident surveys, and a strategy for recruiting industries for the targeted strength areas were the two areas stressed as major factors to a successful plan implementation.

After a six month planning process, the City will have a plan that focuses on what can be preserved, enhanced, invested in, and capitalized on to drive community revitalization in West Columbia.
On the City Wide Redevelopment Plan, Mayor Bobby Horton said, “This is a unique opportunity to determine areas of growth and redevelopment with a targeted and focused approach.”

On the Community Revitalization Plan, Councilman Boyd Jones said, “I want to thank the members of the Revitalization Steering Committee for bringing the issue to Council and thank Council and Staff at City Hall for allowing the opportunity.”

Requests for proposals were issued for a City Wide Redevelopment Plan as well as a Community Revitalization Plan. Six firms responded to the City Wide Redevelopment RFP and seven firms responded to the Community Revitalization Plan RFP. RMA had the highest ranked proposal for both plans.
