West Columbia, Cayce Lizard’s Thicket restaurants packed New Year’s Day for Collard greens and black-eyed peas

The Lizard’s Thicket restaurants are known for their variety of Southern food. But Tuesday was a special day.
Collard greens and black-eyed peas are a New Year’s tradition. It’s said that meal will bring luck.
And the Lizard’s Thicket restaurants in West Columbia and Cayce were packed Tuesday, because they serve collard greens and black-eyed peas. It’s Lizard’s Thicket busiest day of the year. Around 12,000 eat people in Lizard Thickets 15 restaurants on New Year’s Day.
All collards are grown locally at Rawl Farms in Lexington.
