West Columbia Big Lots is not on the latest list to close

Last month Big Lots started “going out of business” sales at all of its locations. But the West Columbia Big Lots in the Danwood Shopping Center on Augusta Road is not on the list to close, according to a list released last week. See article here

Big Lots stores filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection about 5 months ago. Since, the company has closed more than 500 stores, but about 900 stores are still open, and hundreds of stores could remain open.

Variety Wholesalers is acquiring 200 to 400 Big Lots stores, which would retain the Big Lots branding.

There are 200 Big Lots locations that Variety Wholesalers will take over, and additional locations could be added. The final decision to keep the store open would need court approval.

If approved, store locations in South Carolina could continue to operate as Big Lots stores under Variety Wholesalers. Here’s where:
