West Columbia approves contract to begin Riverwalk repair

West Columbia City Council approved a contract with AOS Specialty Contractors Inc. for the FEMAriverwalk-damage Riverwalk Repair Project. The Amount of the contract is $270,811.04.

AOS Specialty Contractors Inc was the “Lowest Responsible Responsive Bidder.”

West Columbia Public Works Director Jamie Hook said work to repair Riverwalk would begin as soon as possible. He said he expects repair would begin in December. Projections are that most of the repair of the Riverwalk path along the Congaree River would be completed in April, including the wooden walkway under the Gervais Street Bridge. When it was washed out in the October 2015 floods, connectivity of the Riverwalk was severely limited.
