Vintage fire pole from West Columbia Fire Department now on display at Savage Craft Ale Works

A piece of history from the West Columbia Fire Department has been installed at Savage Craft Ale Works on Center Street in West Columbia. Savage Craft is in the converted building that was the 1920s site of West Columbia’s (or New Brookland’s) City Hall and Fire Station. A vintage WCFD fire pole is now on display just inside the doors of Savage Craft Ale Works for everyone to see.

It’s the fire pole that was in the WCFD Center Street Station from 1960 to 1979. It was later moved to the new WCFD at 610 N 12th Street and was on display as a historical piece of the department.
As we celebrate the past and present of our firefighters, this fire pole stands as a testament to the dedication and courage of the WCFD. Pictured below are West Columbia Fire Chief Marquis Solomon and members of the WCFD who moved the pole in to Savage Craft.
