Vehicle runs off interstate near the Broad River and catches fire, emergency crews on the scene
A vehicle went over the rail of I-126 near Elmwood Avenue, over the the Broad and Saluda rivers in Columbia, Wednesday afternoon. Emergency crews are on the scene above the bridge and on the ground. A Columbia Police report stated that a vehicle drove off the bridge on I-126 Westbound from Elmwood and caught fire just before the river. The condition of the occupant is not known.
Two westbound lanes were closed and drivers should expect significant delays and should try to find an alternative route. Columbia Fire Dept photos
