USC Alumni Director Jack Claypoole speaks at C-WC Chamber Breakfast
Jack Claypoole, executive director of the USC Alumni Association, spoke at the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber Breakfast, Tuesday.
The Breakfast was held at at Hermon Lutheran Church, West Columbia.
Claypoole, a Brookland-Cayce High School and USC graduate, talked about the University of South Carolina’s Alumni Center.
There will be a big block party at the alumni center in October, Claypoole said.
The $26 million Alumni Center will feature more than 60,000 square feet of space. Its uses will be for business luncheons, company receptions, personal gatherings, weddings, and special occasions.
The Alumni Center is in Columbia’s Vista area, at the corner of Senate and Lincoln streets, (where the old Damon’s restaurant was. )
The new facility will include:
13 meeting/conference/ballrooms;
More than 16,000 square feet of meeting space;
A 10,000 square foot main ballroom (sub-dividable);
7,500 square feet of pre-conference areas; and
Meeting and conference rooms varying between 300 and 1,900 square feet.
Claypoole said annual alumni membership dues for an individual are inexpensive, $55.
