US Rep. Joe Wilson, of Springdale was taken to the hospital Tuesday night. He was being treated after he collapsed at an event in Washington. Later Tuesday night, Wilson’s office confirmed the news on X.

“Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) was taken ill and is being evaluated at a local hospital in Washington, DC,” according to the X account of Wilson’s office.

SC Attorney General Alan Wilson, Wilson’s son, said through his mother, Roxanne Wilson, who was at the hospital that: “Doctors have confirmed to us that he experienced stroke-like symptoms.”

Alan Wilson said he spoke with his father on the phone. He said Congressman Wilson is “stable and being monitored by medical professionals.” Joe Wilson is 77-years-old.
