UPDATED – Cayce Police ask drivers to avoid section of Charleston Highway after accident involving injury, Wednesday evening
Emergency personnel were asking drivers to “please avoid the area around the 2400 block of Charleston Highway (near the Edenwood Shopping Center with Murray’s and Food Lion) going towards I-26″ Wednesday evening….”Due to a motor vehicle accident.” The request was posted on the City of Cayce’s Facebook page.
TV station WLTX-19 reported two people were injured after they were involved in a collision and when the two occupants got out of their vehicles, they struck by a third vehicle.
Spokesperson for the Cayce Police and Fire Departments, Ashley Hunter, stated, “Our officers and first responders arrived on the scene within minutes and began life-saving measures.” She continued, “While we are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident on Charleston Highway, it appears that there was a minor two car accident. The two drivers exited their vehicles to inspect the damage and were struck a by a third vehicle.”
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has to confirm and provide fatality information.
