Units respond to Monday house fire near Springdale

Residential structure fire on Pond Drive near Springdale Fire

Just after 4 p.m. on Monday, Lexington County 911 dispatched Lexington County Fire Service and EMS to a two-alarm residential structure fire in the 900 block of Pond Drive, near Springdale.

Upon arrival, firefighters could observe smoke and flames coming from the structure. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and take control of the scene before 5:30 p.m. The occupant of the home was not there at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

An investigation into what started the fire is currently underway. Fire and smoke caused an estimated $75,000 to the structure’s interior.

Eight Lexington County Fire Service stations were called to the scene. West Columbia Fire Department and the Springdale Police Department were also called to the scene for assistance.
