United Bankshares Inc. acquired CresCom and Carolina Financial Corp. That deal was announced in late 2019.

CresCom was Congaree State Bank before being changed over to CresCom in 2016.

As a part of the agreement, Carolina Financial and CresCom will be folded into United Bankshares and United Bank, respectively. The deal was expected to close in the second quarter of 2020.

The Crescom on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia has been taken down and the United Bank sign was going up.

Crescom had a local headquarters office on Knox-Abbot Drive in Cayce.
