The Ultimate Long Drive World Championship begins on Wednesday at Par Tee Golf Center. The competition attracts long-drive competitors from all around the world. Brandon Griffin of Par Tee said participants come from South Africa; Japan; Canada; England; Germany; and more countries.

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin said she is glad to see the return of this event.

“Having the Ultimate Long Drive championships here is world class,” Partin said. “Thanks to Jeff Gilder and team for putting together such an amazing event.” 

The four-day Ultimate Long Drive 2025 ULD World Championship will take place from Wednesday, Oct. 1, until Saturday, Oct. 4. It’s sponsored by Experience Columbia, SC and will showcase long drive athletes from around the world.

The Par Tee Driving Range will be OPEN for normal business all week long. Even though the parking lot may be a little more packed, there will be plenty of spots available to hit.

Who Can Play?
Anyone may compete in the 2024 Ultimate Long Drive World Championship Series. There are divisions for all ages and abilities…from ages 7 and Under to 75+. All adult categories include both, amateur and professional divisions.

Amateur / Professional / USGA Considerations
in January 2022 the USGA removed the sport of long drive from its purview. Read more HERE. Anyone can play the sport of long drive for money without affecting USGA amateur status. The USGA does not recognize professionals in long drive as a disqualification for amateur status in USGA events.

ULD allows players to play either or both (for points or for money) during the season. Players may qualify for the 2024 ULD World Championship on points or money earned…or both.

Here’s a step-by-step explanation of how to get involved in the sport of long drive and to qualify to play in the 2024 ULD World Championship.

Membership
An active ULD Membership ID is required to participate in the ULD World Championship. Membership IDs are activated annually HERE.

USA
USA League Play: ULD operates sanctioned leagues across the USA. Each league will play a minimum of six events each season with a League Championship at the end. Ending the season as the winner (points or money) in a division will qualify that player for the 2024 ULD World Championship. Winning the League Championship in any division will qualify that player for the 2024 ULD World Championship.
North American Tour: Winning any division in any of the events in the 2024 North American Tour will qualify that player for the 2024 ULD World Championship.
Overall points and/or money winners (for the season) in each category will qualify for the 2024 ULD World Championship. Points and money calculations are combined from all eligible (sanctioned) events to determine the overall winners.
International
ULD sanctions events and/or series internationally to qualify players In their respective countries for the 2024 ULD World Championship.

Training
ULD operates ULD Academy with clinics and individual training opportunities at various locations. ULD Academy Speed Training includes three levels of training: Stage 1; Stage 2; and Stage 3. Read more HERE.

Equipment
ULD does not require a player to have a specific type of equipment to participate. A maximum sole to grip tip length (as measured on a Mitchell ClubLength Ruler) of 48″ is allowed. It is quite normal (and recommended) for newcomers in the sport to use their regular play driver in competition. Once a player is committed to the sport, it is recommended to seek out a reputable and knowledgeable club supplier who specializes in our sport. Read more HERE.

The 2023 ULD™ World Championships offer divisions for both amateurs and professionals with categories for athletes with disabilities and the Valor divisions, which pay tribute to the bravery and dedication of current military, veteran military personnel, and first responders.
