U.S. 1 eastbound Exit 58 ramp on I-20 in Lexington County closed Friday, Saturday night

The US 1 eastbound exit ramp (Exit 58) on Interstate 20 in Lexington County will be closed Friday night, May 12, and Saturday night, May 13, for road shoulder reconstruction, barring delays due to weather. Motorists heading east who wish to take Exit 58 should proceed to Exit 61 and re-enter I-20 westbound to Exit 58.

The exit 58 eastbound ramp closure will occur:

·       From 11 p.m. Friday, May 12, until 7 a.m. Saturday, May 13.

·       From 11 p.m. Saturday, May 13, until 7 a.m. Sunday, May 14.

 Message board signs along I-20 will display detour directions.

Motorists are advised to used caution and plan accordingly in case of delays.

The road work is part of a four-phase project to widen an 11-mile stretch of I-20 in Lexington County. The project extends from mile marker 60 near US 378 to mile marker 49 at Longs Pond Road. Upon completion, the project will add a third inside lane in both directions aimed at reducing traffic congestion. It is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019.
