Trees down and power out in Lexington County as a result of Tropical Storm Helene
The West Columbia Police Department listed at lease 12 streets closed. There were several downed trees in the Town of Lexington, SC and the Parks Department with Dominion Energy were working together to reopen roads as quickly as it is safely possible, according to the Lexington Police Department. About 30,000 Lexington County homes were without electrical power by 5 a.m. Friday. Power was still out at 9 a.m.
“We have a bunch of trees down across the whole town right now. There are more still falling. Our crews are working to clear them and open the roads as quickly as it can be done safely,” Tem Miles, City of West Columbia, SC Mayor.
Skies should clear by Friday afternoon. Expect gusty winds to remain with a 30% chance of a shower. Clearing skies in the afternoon, with highs in the low-80s.
Saturday: Mostly sunny skies with a shower possible in the afternoon. Highs in the mid-80s.
Sunday: Clouds and sun. A shower is possible later in the day. Highs in the mid-80s.

- 2400 block of Mineral Springs Road
- 5700 block of Sunset Blvd/US-378
- 4801 Sunset Blvd/VLMHP Entrance
- South Church Street at Roberts Street
- 200 block of Gibson Road – Reopened
- 300 block of Reed Avenue – Reopened
- 200 block of Corley Street – Reopened
- Satcher Road at Pond View Lane
- Several Streets in Golden Hills

Your sanitation will be picked up this morning on normal schedules. Please roll your carts back in to minimize roadway debris.
Please be cautious of downed power lines and trees and heed all barricades in the roadways. They are for your safety. Do not try to drive through standing water.
