Interstate – 26 is a lot more visible now from McSwain Drive in West Columbia. Crews commissioned by the SC Department of Transportation are clearing trees on McSwain Drive. The clearing is part of Phase 1 of the Carolina Crossroads project.
The Carolina Crossroads Project is South Carolina’s number one priority interstate improvement project. The project will improve 14 miles of I-20, I-26 and I-126. This includes the area commonly called “Malfunction Junction.”
As part of Phase 1 the current exit to Bush River Road will be removed and the off ramp to 126 will remain open and feed into Colonial Life Boulevard and onto Bush River Road.
