Transformer blown at Northside Middle School, students dismissed
A little after 9 this morning, power at Northside Middle School in West Columbia was disrupted due to a blown transformer.
Parents were lined up in front of the school Monday morning to pick up children.
Parents were notified that they may pick up their students. In the interest of safety, provisions have been made for students that are not picked up. They will be housed in the cafeteria where there is natural lighting, plus generators will be provided; they have water. A bag lunch was provided for the students around 11 or 11:30. Bus routes will run on a regular schedule.
All after-school activities are cancelled for Northside. However, the shuttle that takes Northside athletes to Brookland-Cayce High School in the afternoons will be available for students not picked up and want to attend practice.
