Town of Swansea receives grant to upgrade police equipment
The Town of Swansea has been awarded a Justice Assistance Grant from the Department of Justice and the S.C. Department of Public Safety. MPA Strategies announced the grant Monday. The Town of Swansea is an MPA client.
The funding from the Justice Assistance Grant totaled nearly $12,600. The money went toward two updated camera systems for police vehicles and a metal detector. These updated camera systems will record at all times in police vehicles during any traffic stop, allowing for regular and consistent video evidence. The metal detector will be placed at the entrance of the Swansea courthouse, providing security and safety for all of Swansea’s officials and residents.
“The funding that MPA Strategies has secured for us has greatly benefited our town. They have more than paid for themselves.”- Town of Swansea Police Chief, Clif Hayes.
This is the third grant MPA Strategies has secured for the Town of Swansea. Earlier this year, Swansea was awarded a Rural Infrastructure Authority grant worth $498,500 towards improvements of the town’s deteriorating water system, as well as funding toward police body-worn cameras through the SC Department of Public Safety.
