Town of Pine Ridge’s interim police chief resigns
Lt. Vincent Silano had been serving as the interim chief for the Town of Pine Ridge. He resigned Tuesday night at a town council meeting. He had been with the Town of Pine Ridge since 2018, according to his professional profile page. He’d also worked as an officer in Cayce.
According to a Facebook post the mayor’s meddling in police department operations was one of the reasons he cited for his resignation.
The Town issued a release, Thursday, that said “there will be no open comment or discussion as to any such matters, regarding the resignation of the police chief. because it’s an internal personnel matter and sensitive and confidential in nature.
On its Facebook page, Pine Ridge posted the message below:
The Town of Pine Ridge is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Chief. The department has two full-time sworn positions and two part-time sworn positions. Pine Ridge is located in the County of Lexington, with a population of 2,064 at the 2010 census and a Council form of government. The Police Chief reports to the Police Commissioner. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
The release also read: “Town Council understands the importance of the safety and security of its residents and has received assurances that the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office will, as they have always done during nights and weekends, will now be providing law enforcement services to the residents of Pine Ridge during weekdays.”
