Tim James, former Cayce Councilman, C-WC Chamber CEO is the new Vice President of Marketing for M. B. Kahn
M. B. Kahn, recognized by Engineering News Record as the 200th largest construction company in the nation, is pleased to announce new team member, Timothy M. James, Vice President of Marketing.

With more than 35 years of leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, James brings a blended background in government policy, economic development, and business engagement that strengthens M. B. Kahn’s partnerships with clients, architects, owner’s agents, businesses, and local communities.
“MB Kahn has presented me an absolute great opportunity, while the position keenly fits a semi-retirement and allows me flexibility to spend time with family and friends, it will also allow me to remain connected with the business and governments that I have enjoyed working with my entire career”. Representing MB Kahn, a respectful and progressive company for almost a decade is an honor for me,” James said.
James began his career in the public safety arena in 1983, eventually becoming Chief of Police for his beloved hometown, the City of Cayce. He never forgot his time in uniform and continued to support law enforcement and veteran events such as the Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. for area veterans. He also served as Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s Vice President-Executive Director, where he created fundraising growth through the Ambassador Program. James was elected by his community to serve five terms on the City of Cayce Council, ultimately serving as Mayor ProTem until he retired from Council in 2025.
In 2020 James was asked to take the helm as President/CEO of the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, which began with a successful rebrand process, then achieving two Carolinas Excellence in Communications Awards and ultimately achieving recognition as “Chamber of the Year” for both North and South Carolina in 2024. The Chamber of Commerce also achieved Accreditation, a designation of high honor for Chambers where they undergo the highest policy and procedural evaluations and audit. James was also selected by his peers to serve on the Board of Directors of the Carolina Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE).
Throughout his career, James has demonstrated a consistent ability to forge lasting relationships across North and South Carolina, demand accountability, and manage growth while meeting ongoing responsibilities. Many of James’ economic and tourism development activities resulted in construction-sector partnerships with vendors, contractors, and architects through the years. He even had the privilege of purchasing and renovating a home in his childhood neighborhood, so he is no stranger to construction. “We’re thrilled to have Tim’s expertise in leading our marketing efforts,” said Craig Floyd, Executive Vice President. “His passion for strengthening communities and building meaningful relationships makes him an excellent fit for our company and our clients.”
James resides in Cayce with his wife, a 41-year veteran as a public-school teacher, and is extremely proud of his two daughters, as well as their extended family and close friends spanning the Southeast.
