Thousands flock to Cayce for Tartan Day South – See the Photos
It was a day bathed in bright sunshine, with a breeze blowing through Cayce’s Historic Columbia Speedway, Saturday as Tartan Day South commenced.
Visitors of every age came from at least five different states to take in the festival that celebrates Celtic culture, heritage, and traditions. It’s in it 13th year in Cayce.
Cayce Mayor Elise Partin strolled the grounds and greeted attendees. She was pleased.
“Tartan Day South is such a well run family friendly event that it draws people to Cayce from all over,” she said. “Thanks to John Banks for all his hard work. And congratulations to the Sellers Family for the Columbia Speedway, home of Tartan Day South and more, for being a great event space.”
John Banks, the organizer of Tartan day South, said everything went great.
“We had a really good crowd and everyone I saw was having a good time,” Banks said. “It was a little warm but this is an event they look forward to year-round. And they came from all over to enjoy it.”
Banks said the headcount for last year was around 10,700. He estimated the crowd was as big this year as it was last year.
“I’m very pleased with the turnout,” he said. “Tartan Day South is such a tradition and I never get tired of it.”
