Obituary of Tim R Davis

Tim R. Davis, 83, of West Columbia, SC, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022. A funeral will be held for Mr. Davis at 2:00pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Rd. Lexington, SC 29073. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Rd W, West Columbia, SC. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Tim was born in Columbia, SC on May 28, 1938 to the late Pearl and William W. Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruby Davis; daughter, Tammy Raines (Jason); son, Kevin Davis (Katie); grandson, Joshua Raines; granddaughters, Sydney, Hannah, and Madilyn Davis; and sisters, Joyce Jones (Jim) and Marsha Keisler.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Steve Davis.

Tim had many roles in his life. He was a painter for the State Hospital, employed by Bagnal Builders for nearly 20 years, and a member of Woodmen of the World Fraternal Order, but his all-time favorite roles took place at home. Tim would have captured the moon for Ruby. He loved his children more than anything, and worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. When his grandchildren were born, he proudly became “Papa.” He would teasingly pretend he was going to take candy or food from the kids, and when they would shake their heads in disapproval, he would act so surprised and silly. His grandkids loved laughing with him as much as he loved putting a smile on their faces.

Although we are all heartbroken by the loss of Tim, we leave you with a quote from one of Tim’s favorite cowboys, Roy Rogers:

“Until we meet again, may the good Lord take a liking to you.”

Born on September 21, 2005, Haley Nicole Meetze was just 16 years old.

A sophomore at White Knoll High School, Haley loved photography, spending time with her friends, and hanging with her dog, Cookie.

She is survived by her parents, Donya & Bill Jones; siblings, Ryan Meetze, Taylor Meetze, Chandler Jones; grandparents, Quincey & Millie Morgan, Audrey Birchmore (Robert), Bill Jones, Sr. (Coreena); aunts, Tandy Beamish (Cory), Dena Ash, Betty Edwards (Cleve); and cousins, Courtney, Zacharia, Cole, Nathan, and Isley.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Rd, Lexington SC. The family will receive visitors starting at 12:00pm, with services beginning at 2:00pm.

To show love and support for our baby girl, friends and family are encouraged to wear purple, Haley’s most favorite color.

Haley wanted to help other children through their journey, whenever she got well. Any donations will be used for that purpose, in her honor.

Obituary of Gordon Ray Carle

Gordon Ray Carle, 65, of Lexington, husband of Linda J. Carle, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022.  He was born on September 14, 1956 in Newark, Ohio to the late Earl (Pete) and Helen Carle.

In addition to his loving wife of 28 years, he is survived by his son, Robert Carle and two daughters, Kristen Lane (Justen) and Lian Carle; his sister, Gayla Carle (Thomas Gibson). He is preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Marla Kay Carle.  His family meant the world to him.

After graduating from Central Ohio Technical College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in computer programming, Gordon worked in that field for over a decade.  Always adventurous and energized by challenges, he made a huge midlife career change – from working with operating systems to working in the operating room. He trained as a surgical technologist at Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth, Texas and received his national certification.  He retired from Lexington Medical Center in 2018 after a 20 year career in medicine to bring his universal condiment to market.

An avid skier, golfer, and hunter, Gordon loved the outdoors.  Another passion, besides Ohio State football, was classic cars.  His 15th anniversary, 1983 Hurst Olds was his pride and joy.  But mostly, he enjoyed cooking, experimenting with flavors, rarely sticking to a recipe; trusting his palate to guide him to a great dish.

And so it was with the development of Tavi’s Four in One.  Gordon tweaked this recipe for more than 30 years, sharing it with family, friends, and complete strangers!  He had aspired to take the product nationally, but with his death, that dream may not be realized.

Gordon’s Christian faith was central to who he was.  A member of Fresh Church in Chapin, he served on the building committee.  Fresh Church held its first service in their new building this past Christmas eve.  There are plans to erect another building on the property as well as creating a nature trail for the local community to enjoy.

Gordon’s celebration of life service will be Saturday, February 5 at 3:00 PM at Fresh Church, 1022 Forrest Shealy Rd in Chapin. It will be live streamed on the Fresh Church live Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fresh Foundation, PO Box 822, White Rock, SC 29177.
